The New NIN Album and Artwork

Category: Music, Photography

Nine Inch Nails announced they are offering their new album for immediate download.

I’ve listened to the album once so far, and it’s a great collection of ambient, instrumental tracks. But, what really caught my attention was the associated artwork.

I tried it out last night and bought the $5 dollar version of “Ghosts”, which comes with all 36 tracks, plus artwork extras. By the way, this is how you sell modern music. A selection of free tracks, plus downloadable versions in various formats (MP3, iTunes, etc) with no copy-protection.

Each track has an associated photo, which is also supplied in your download. And I think the photography style is excellent. I’ve only being learning about photography for the past couple of months, but think these are some of the best photos I’ve seen so far. I just find them to be really inspirational. The sort of photos that make you want to grab your camera and try it out for yourself.

Anyway, I’ve collected some of my favourites, which you can view….now!

The artwork certainly suits the music. I am not comparing Jimi Hendricks to Trent Reznor, but I have always thought that Jimi Hendricks played the soundtrack to my nightmares. Trent Reznor plays the soundtrack to the rest of my dreams with Ghost.

I also find it quite ironic that NIN is sing their unique blend of electronica to provide the soundtrack to natural landscapes. Ironic, interesting, or just full of shit. You decide.

Hey Rob,

How did we start talking about your nightmares? : )

But yes, I agree, the artwork certainly does suit the music…
