Microsoft’s Silverlight is XP and Vista Only

Microsoft recently announced a new piece of software called Silverlight. From what I’ve read so far, this is their version of Flash. Microsoft describes Silverlight as…

Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of Microsoft .NET–based media experiences and rich interactive applications for the Web.

So I tried to install the beta version on my PC. Unfortunately, I immediately received the following error:

Firefox OS: Will Hard Drives & Software become Obsolete?

Came across this interested post, which states, “Firefox OS: Why My Hard Drive & Software are Obsolete“.

Basically, the idea is that everything will eventually move online and we’ll no longer need a local hard drive with locally installed copies of your favourite software. And I do agree with the general thought that, yes, everything that can, will move online. But it’s a bit far reaching to think that the general public has any idea of this movement. At this point, Firefox is still the minority (although a popular one) and basing your entire technology life around the Firefox browser is a very techie thing to do.
